EMDR Therapy Intensives Near Boston & NYC

Emotional Healing • Restorative Wellness • Trauma Recovery

If you’re searching for trauma healing retreats in the Berkshires or EMDR intensives near Boston or New York City, you may already know that weekly therapy isn’t always enough.

You might feel stuck in anxiety, burnout, or relationship patterns that don’t seem to shift—no matter how much insight you have.

EMDR therapy intensives and trauma healing retreats offer a different approach: extended, focused sessions that help you process the root of what’s been keeping you stuck, so you can experience real, lasting change.

A trauma healing retreat is a focused, immersive therapy experience designed to help you process trauma, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm in a shorter period of time.

Unlike weekly therapy, EMDR intensive retreats provide extended sessions (typically 3–5 hours per day or multi-day formats), allowing your nervous system to fully engage in the healing process without interruption.

These retreats often combine:

  • EMDR therapy

  • Somatic (body-based) approaches

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Time for rest and integration

Who Are Trauma Healing Retreats For?

Trauma healing retreats in the Berkshires are especially helpful if you:

  • Feel stuck despite years of therapy

  • Struggle with anxiety, burnout, or emotional overwhelm

  • Are a high-achieving professional who can’t slow down

  • Notice patterns of people-pleasing or perfectionism

  • Are navigating a breakup, divorce, or infidelity

  • Want faster progress than weekly therapy allows

How EMDR Therapy Helps You Heal Trauma

EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps your brain and nervous system process traumatic experiences so they no longer feel overwhelming.

In a retreat format, EMDR allows for:

  • Deeper trauma processing

  • Faster relief from anxiety and emotional triggers

  • Reduced overwhelm and nervous system activation

  • Greater clarity, confidence, and self-trust

Why Choose a Trauma Healing Retreat in the Berkshires

The Berkshires offer a uniquely supportive environment for trauma healing.

Located just a few hours from Boston and New York City, this region provides:

  • A quiet, nature-based setting for nervous system regulation

  • Distance from daily stress and responsibilities

  • Space for reflection, rest, and integration

Being outside your usual environment can help your brain shift out of survival mode, making therapy more effective.

Here, you can weave together your EMDR therapy intensive with restorative practices like:

  • Gentle hiking through forest trails

  • Mindful birding and quiet moments in nature

  • Massage, acupuncture, and bodywork to enhance healing

  • Yoga and breathwork to help you reconnect to your body

Your retreat becomes not only a therapeutic experience, but a full-body and mind reset.

Why EMDR Intensives Work

Why clients choose intensives versus weekly therapy

EMDR Intensives offer the depth and focus traditional weekly therapy can’t always provide.
Instead of starting and stopping week to week, you stay in the healing process — allowing your mind and body to process and integrate more completely.

Benefits include:

  • Faster progress through trauma and emotional blocks

  • Greater nervous system regulation

  • Relief from anxiety, self-criticism, and overwhelm

  • Increased clarity, confidence, and self-compassion

What’s Included in an EMDR Intensive Retreat

Designed for optimal rest, recovery, and healing

Each EMDR Intensive retreat is customized to your goals and needs, and includes the core components of an EMDR Intensive — enhanced by the healing elements of the Berkshires environment.

1. Pre-Retreat Goal Planning Session

Before your retreat, we’ll meet virtually or in-person to identify your goals, areas of focus, and what you hope to feel or release. This session helps shape your experience so it feels intentional, grounded, and fully tailored to you.

2. Personalized Preparation Workbook

You’ll receive a customized workbook to help you prepare emotionally and mentally for your retreat. It includes:

  • Journaling prompts for clarity and reflection

  • Exercises to connect with your hopes and needs

  • Self-care guidance for before, during, and after your retreat

3. EMDR Intensive Retreat Days

During your retreat, you’ll engage in focused EMDR sessions surrounded by the calming energy of nature. Each day is structured to balance deep processing with rest and integration.

Your experience may include:

  • EMDR sessions tailored to your healing goals

  • Movement breaks, grounding exercises, and mindful breathwork

  • Optional art or music for creative expression

  • Optional add-on restorative activities between reprocessing, such as guided mindful birding hikes, massage, yoga, or acupuncture

Your retreat is never rushed. You’ll have time to slow down, process, and reconnect with yourself fully.

4. Post-Intensive Integration Session

At the close of your retreat, we’ll meet to reflect on your experience, celebrate growth, and create a plan for what comes next. You’ll leave with tools and practices to help your progress continue — and, if you’d like, I can coordinate with your ongoing therapist or care team for continuity.

Intensives are billed at $375 per hour, with package pricing beginning at $1,425. A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the time of booking your intensive. Payment plan options are available. You can choose from several options depending on your goals and schedule:

  • Half-Day Intensive (3 hours) — Ideal for addressing a specific recurring issue or recent event, or for clients who want to experience the benefits of EMDR in a shorter, focused format.

  • One-Day Intensive (5 hours) — A powerful reset for clients ready to move through deeper layers of anxiety, trauma, or burnout with time for integration and reflection.
